HARRISBURG, Pa. - Altoona Curve shortstop
Chase d'Arnaud hit a grand slam as part of a six-run, seventh inning to catapult the West to a, 10-3, win over the East in this year's Eastern League All-Star Game in Harrisburg, Pa.
The Pepperdine product, who was added to the team five days earlier, went 1-for-2 in the game after replacing Senators shortstop Danny Espinosa. It was the third All-Star Game appearance for the Pirates’ fourth-round pick in 2008 and his first All-Star Game MVP honors award.
Curve third baseman
Josh Harrison also had a nice night on City Island, going 2-for-2 with a two-RBI triple that tied the game for the West in the bottom of the third after the East initially took a, 2-0, lead in the top half of the inning.

Hector Gimenez won the Home Run Derby contest with eight home runs in the final round to barely nip hometown first baseman Chris Marrero, who had seven. Gimenez went 0-for-2 from the plate in the game.
First baseman
Matt Hague, who was participating in his first All-Star Game, went 0-for-2. On the hill,
Rudy Owens pitched one inning and permitted two runs on three hits while
Derek Hankins also pitched an inning and did not allow a hit while walking one and whiffing two.
Altoona resumes play Thursday night at Metro Bank Park when it opens up a four-game series with the Harrisburg Senators (AA – Washington Nationals) at 7 p.m. E.L. wins leader
Jared Hughes (10-6, 4.27) will be on the mound for the Curve while LHP Aaron Thompson (4-10, 5.68) throws for Harrisburg.
